Some mornings, there are bison in the meadow.
Not in a reserve you drive to. Not behind a fence. In the field the house looks out over — grazing in the mist while you stand at the terrace door with a coffee. Teremiski is, quite possibly, the best place to see wild bison in the entire Białowieża Forest, and Corncrake Lodge sits right at the heart of it.
This is the wild edge of Europe. Moose, wolves, foxes and deer all move through the valley below the house. It’s genuinely quiet here — no through road, no traffic, just the forest, the meadows, and two small rivers threading through it all. At night the skies go properly dark, and the Milky Way comes out.
The lodge itself is a newly built wooden house in the traditional Podlaskie style, finished to a modern standard — the whole place is yours, sleeping up to six across three bedrooms. A big terrace door and windows on every side fill it with light, even in the depths of winter, all facing south over that meadow-and-river view. Full kitchen, fast fibre internet, modern bathrooms.
Come back from a day in the forest, light the bonfire, and watch the valley go quiet. This is a place to switch off completely — and to see wildlife most of Europe lost centuries ago.

Where you’ll be
The lodge is on the edge of Teremiski, set apart from the main village among fields and meadows, down a quiet dead-end track. From the door, it’s a five-minute walk to where the forest proper begins.
Teremiski is ringed by nature reserves protecting some of the forest’s finest old-growth stands, and the two rivers that pass through act as wildlife corridors — which is much of why the animals are so reliably around. The meadow the house overlooks is itself a conservation area, established for the lesser spotted eagle and the corncrake the lodge takes its name from.
Białowieża village — with its shop, cafes and restaurants — is a five-minute drive away, so you’re never far from what you need. Hajnówka, the nearest town, is about 20km. Warsaw is around 200km (3–4 hours by car), or 2.5 hours by train to Hajnówka.

Full refund if cancelled more than 30 days before arrival. 50% refund if cancelled 14–30 days before arrival. No refund within 14 days of arrival. Refunds are minus any non-recoverable payment processing fees.

I’m an ecologist and I’ve lived in the Białowieża Forest for eight years, researching its wolves. The lodge is right by my home here, so when you stay you can just ask me things — where the bison have been showing up, which tracks are worth a walk, what that bird outside the window is. Happy to point you in the right direction, or leave you to it. There’s also a golden retriever who lives here, and he’s very friendly.
